Apoel Nicosia was the winner of the derby with Ael Limassol with a 4-1 score. Thomas Kristiansen’s players scored four goals after a very good performance. Nicosia’s blue and yellow took home the three points and now have the chance to finish off the championship by winning Aek Larnaca next week.
Apoel opened up the score with the match’s MVP, Vander who scored at the 17’ minute. The team from Nicosia made it 2-0 when Vander passed the ball to Embesilio who scored. Apoel scored its third goal at 76’ minute when Aloneftis crossed the ball from the left for Pieros Sotiriou to score making it 3-0. Ael scored a goal at the 88’ minute with a penalty, but Apoel fired back with Sotiriou scoring the final fourth goal for Apoel.
Meanwhile, Aek Larnaca won Apollon at the AEK Arena in Larnaca with 1-0, essentially destroying the Limassol team’s hopes for the championship.
The “golden” goal was scored by Acoran at the 75’ minute which gave Aek the three valuable points which keep the team on track for the championship. Aek were the better team on the field with Apollon underperforming in comparison with the teams recent games.
