Tourism revenue recorded a significant annual increase this January of 21.6% compared to January 2016, data released by the Cyprus Statistical Service show.
In particular on the basis of the results of the Passenger Survey, revenue from tourism reached €35.4 mn in January 2017 compared to €29.1 mn in the corresponding month of the previous year, recording an increase of 21.6%.
The annual increase in arrivals of January was 28.8%.
Tourist arrivals from the United Kingdom in January 2017 came to 17,404 compared to 14,552. Their expenditure per capita was €727 compared with €675 last January and per day it was recorded as €60.1 compared to €59.05 at the same month of last year. Their average stay was 12.1 days compared to 11.4 last January.
Russian tourist arrivals came to 13,677 this January compared to 5,304 last January. Their average stay was lower at 7.5 days compared to 10.8 days in January 2016. Their per capita expenditure was €607 compared to €696 last January. However their daily expenditure was recorded at €81 compared to €64 in January 2016.
