A new temporary library has been opened by Enfield Council while arrangements are made to provide a new community library facility for the residents in the Enfield Highway area.

It provides PC’s, internet access and a ‘best sellers’ shelf on the existing library site, while arrangements are made to provide the permanent community library by September 2017.

Residents will be able to access and order books from the wider library catalogue on line from the temporary library.

The temporary library will be open between 9am – 7pm on Mondays and Thursdays and 9am – 5pm on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

Enfield Council’s Cabinet Member for Education, Children’s Services & Protection, Cllr Ayfer Orhan, said: “We apologise for any inconvenience that people have experienced while we have been developing plans for a sustainable community library at Enfield Highway.

“We are working closely with partner organisations to finalise those details, and while this is happening we have installed a temporary library on the site of the existing library. The bus will also provide important space and IT for our pupils revision in the run up to exams.”

Enfield Council is also looking for volunteers to help run some of its community libraries as part of its Enfield Heroes campaign, if residents are interested they should visit: Link
