LFA Sunday Challenge Cup Final

A great massive crowd and LFA Association members attendance greeted both KOPA League teams on a blazing Sunday morning for their grand final at the excellent Wingate Finchley Stadium.
Both teams were introduced to the LFA dignatries by the team captains before the game kicked off.

Olympia

The match started at a fast pace with attacks galore from both sides but New Salamis took the lead in no time when Deniz Mehmet went across the bye line who crossed for a Kyri tap saved and Richard Georgiou there to tap it into the net.

Olympia trying hard to get back in the game when New Salamis on the break one of their players was pulled down and an Olympia player was sent off going into the break with only ten men.
Olympia came out the second half strong with one less man and a stronger bite and were awarded a free kick outside the box which Paul Wright scored from. So 1-1 it was now game on both teams having a go at each other New Salamis scored a second with a Ryan Hervel free kick from outside the box.

But a third goal not long later seem to kill the game when Deniz Mehmet dribbled along the bye line to cross for Kyri Portou to slice the ball into the back of the net.

The fourth New Salamis goal came in the dying minutes when a one two ended with Harrison Georgiou striking the ball from the edge of the box into the bottom corner of the net.
A great final congratulations to both KOPA Leagues on putting a great entertaining display pleasing to all watching fans.
The trophies and medals was presented to the match officials and players by Johnnie Walker member of the LFA Council.
