Nea Salamina were the big winners on Monday night after they beat Ermis Aradippou 4-1 to close the gap on their rivals to just one point in the battle for sixth place.

Along with Aris, Ethnikos, Doxa and Karmiotissa, Nea Salamina and Ermis in Group in the end-of-season playoffs. Although both sides will not get relegated, they are involved in a battle for sixth place and Monday night’s big win for Salamina at the Ammochostos Stadium is a statement of intent from Antonio Conceicao’s side.

Salamina had stormed ahead with two goals from Dmitar Makriev before Yaroslav Martynyuk pulled one back for the Aradippou club from the penalty spot. But the hosts stormed in front again with further goals from Dudu and Yiannis Kousoulos.

Salamina will next face Karmiotissa at the GSZ Stadium while Ermis welcome relegation battlers Aris.
