Four fire engines and 21 firefighters were called to a fire in a derelict industrial unit on Allum Way in Whetstone on Saturday afternoon.

The fire damaged part of the single storey building and around three tonnes of rubbish. Smoke from the blaze was very visible during the early stages of the incident and Brigade Control Officers took more than twenty 999 calls from members of the public.

The Brigade was called at 1651 and the incident was over for the Brigade at 1942. Crews from Barnet, Finchley and Hornsey fire stations attended the incident. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
