Another dogfight between Turkish and Greek fighter aircraft took place on Monday morning southeast of Rhodes. In the confrontation were four Turkish fighter jets accompanied by two F-16’s. The latest of Turkish provocations occurred despite the scheduled visit of the President of the Republic to the Island. Multiple Turkish provocations occurred which include research Vessel “Cesme” in the North Aegean while Turkey is occupying an area North of Paphos in Cyprus for exercises.
Greek President Prokopis Pavlopoulos sent a stern message to Ankara in defence of the Greek Islands asking Turkey drop the issue of demilitarization of the Dodecanese. The President recalled the provision of the UN Charter that gives Greece the right to preventive defense against Turkish threat.
