On Friday 24th February 2017, St John’s Upper Holloway primary school in north London supported Bad Hair Day which raised money for Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH).

Organized by teaching assistant Susan Evans, children turned up for school with some wacky and wild hairstyles, from wearing wigs and spraying or backcombing their hair, to balancing doughnuts and even Coke bottles on their heads!

Students made their donation to GOSH and the special fundraiser raised a superb £350 for one of the world’s leading children’s hospitals, providing inspirational and world-class care to hundreds of children every day.

Last Thursday (16 March 2017), Ms Evans arranged a visit to Great Ormond Street Hospital where the eight students who make up the School Council and Susan Kareem, an outpatient at the hospital, presented a cheque for £350 to the hospital’s fundraising team.

Sacha Morris, a Play Specialist at GOSH, spoke briefly about the work of the hospital. She explained that funds raised could cover the cost of a week’s stay in the family accommodation so parents can stay close by while their child is in hospital.

Finally, she gave each child a gift bag to take home.

Well done to all at St John’s who donated to this very worthwhile cause!
