Komi Kebir 0 Apoel 3
It was a top of the table clash first placed Apoel versus second placed Komi Kebir a win for Apoel meant promotion but if Pantel lost in their later match Apoel would be declared champions. Apoel were quick off the mark and scored in the 8th minute with Vincent Lwanga and on the 18th minute Adam Lambrou added a second making it 2-0.
Komi Kebir had enough possession to create chances but it stopped in midfield they were poor in the final third of the pitch to create and to score.
The second half Komi Kebir picked up and created more movement up front and were awarded a penalty which the Apoel goal keeper Peter Lambrou saved. Apoel picked up from there and scored a third from a Andrew Chambi free kick.
Apoel players and fans celebrated promotion and have to wait another day for Championship celebrations as Pantel won their game versus Cetinkaya Cinar and Komi Kebir are still in the running for promotion.
Cetinkaya Cinar 0 Pantel 4
It was to be an uphill task for inform Cetinkaya Cinar who were without 1st and 2nd choice keepers and were only able to field 10 players, but it was Cinar who created the best chances and should have been in front, but instead went into half time 0-0. The second half started with Dean Florence of Cinar missing a one on one with the Pantel keeper that may of tipped the balance, instead Pantel picked up the pace and took advantage of the extra man and the tiring legs of the Cinar players and went on to score 4 and now are probably favourites for promotion. Pantel’s scorers were Antonio Michael 2, Christo and George Costa.
Achna 7 Maronites 0
Achna are getting better every week Tasos Anastasi has built a solid side and were really good versus poor Maronites who could not contain Achna aho were a team struggling at the bottom of the table but gradually picked themselves up.
Achna’s goals came from Chris Petrou 3, Theo Charalambous 2 and Alex Chrysanthou.
First Division
New Salamis 4 St Panteleimon 0
New Salamis are on track to win the Championship after a convincing win over St Panteleimon the red’s got off to a good start 2-0 up half time but St Panteleimon still tried hard to get back into the game and created good chances but New Salamis are looking good for this Sunday’s FA Sunday Cup semi final v Chessington United. New Salamis goals came from San Donoghue 2, Richard Georgiou and Andy Loizou.
Omonia 2 Arachne 3
Omonia came out the blocks flying and were 1-0 up within the first 30 seconds with a goal just outside the box from Adrian Campbell. Arachne then settled and got on top of Omonia and were soon rewarded with a deserved equaliser from talisman Anthony Panayi direct from a corner. Half time 1-1. In the second half it was an even contest until a fantastic run by George Sydariotis, who crossed to Graham Sawkins who slotted the ball in under pressure from the Omonia defence.
Arachne then stood firm as Omonia tried to find a way and eventually Omonia scored a good goal with a half volley from Theo Kasapi. Arachne never die attitude shown through and in the 3rd minute of stoppage time Anthony Panayi picked the ball up from the halfway line and drove at the Omonia defence getting a powerful shot into the bottom corner sending the Arachne players and fans into jubilation. This is Arachne 4th win in 5 games this year and Omonia are on track to become a solid foundation.
