An emotional musical tribute to George Michael was successfully organised in Nicosia, Cyprus, on Tuesday 14th February 2017.
Music lovers on the island, as well as fans from Greece and the UK, gathered at the Patio Cocktail Bar for a loving tribute dedicated to the music and songs of the talented British Cypriot artist.
It was a night full of surprises and nostalgia accompanied by the sounds of George’s greatest hits, from his Wham! days to his successful solo career, as well as music accompanied by a live saxophonist.
Live footage and quotes by the late singer were screened, as were his infamous video clips.
Fans who attended the event brought along vintage photos from their personal albums; photos of George from the 80’s and the times he visited Cyprus.
In the same way George Michael helped and supported many charities, proceeds from the tribute night were donated to the “Hope for Children” CRC Policy Center, an organisation that stands next to all children, regardless of gender, colour, religion or nationality, offering all its services for free.
Those who made a donation received a white t-shirt featuring the CHOOSE LIFE slogan, a replica of those worn by George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley in the video for the 1984 Wham! hit ‘Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go’.
Sponsors of the event were the city guide Wiz Urban Guide CYPRUS and radio station LOVE FM CYPRUS.
The George Michael Tribute was a great opportunity to celebrate the music of an artist who taught us to love and to fall in love through their lyrics. The organisers wish to thank everyone who participated and attended the tribute, particularly all those who supported the chosen charity.
