Detectives from the Met’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for witnesses and information following a fatal road traffic collision in Finchley.

 

Police were called by London Ambulance Service at approximately 09:43hrs on Thursday, 23 March, to reports of a car in collision with an elderly pedestrian in Churchfield Avenue, N12.

 

Officers attended the scene and found an injured 97-year-old woman. She was taken to a north London hospital and later transferred to an east London hospital where she died on Saturday, 25 March. Next of kin have been informed.

 

A post mortem examination will take place in due course.

 

Whilst officers believe they know who the deceased is they await formal identification.

 

The driver of the car stopped at the scene but was not arrested.

 

The Serious Collision Investigation Unit is carrying out enquiries into the circumstances of the incident.
