Russet House School in Enfield has been praised for being a ‘centre of excellence’ and its ‘highly effective leadership’ after being rated ‘outstanding’ for the third time running by Ofsted.

The school, which caters for young people with autism, was given the education watchdog’s highest rating in all categories, with inspectors crediting the progress students make throughout the years.

Inspectors noted that pupils love coming to school, and that Russet House provides a ‘calm, purposeful and highly inclusive learning environment.’ Teaching was also described as ‘outstanding’.

The Headteacher of Russet House School, Julie Foster, said: “We are exceptionally proud of all our students and staff.

“The latest Ofsted visit has firmly endorsed the hard work and outstanding teaching, learning and pastoral support that is at the heart of our school and confirmed that achievement, behaviour and leadership are all excellent.”

Enfield Council’s Cabinet Member for Education, Children’s Services & Protection, Cllr Ayfer Orhan, said: “Russet House School is an exceptionally friendly, welcoming and truly inspirational school.

“As the school deals with young people who have autism it is vital that it provides a supportive and uplifting environment to all pupils, and it clearly does.”
