Are you a carer for someone suffering with Dementia? Dementia Club UK support people suffering from Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia and also supports carers, friends and families and those who have lost someone with dementia.
The club runs at four venues in the Borough of Barnet throughout the week which are sponsored by Saracens. These are: Finchley Memorial Hospital, Granville Road, North Finchley, N12 0JE (every Wednesday 2pm – 4pm), Sha’arei Tsedek North London Reform Synagogue, 120 Oakleigh Road North, London N20 9EZ (first Monday of every month 2pm – 4pm), Greek Cypriot Britannia Centre, 2 Britannia Road, North Finchley, N12 9RU (last Monday of every month 2pm – 4pm) and Hendon Town Hall, The Burroughs, Hendon, NW4 4AX (last Thursday of every month 2pm – 4pm).
Cllr Lisa Rutter is pleased to launch a new fifth venue in partnership with the Rotary Club of Golders Green, an exciting venture which provides an opportunity for Dementia Club UK to expand nationally with the Rotary Club.
The new venue is at Stephens House & Gardens (Avenue House), 17 East End Road, Finchley, N3 3QE with the launch taking place from 2pm to 4pm on Monday 13th March 2017.
Invited guests include Dementia Club UK Patron Theresa Villiers MP, The Mayor of Barnet Cllr. David Longstaff (Dementia Club UK is one of the Mayor’s charities this year), the Chief Executive of Barnet Council Mr John Hooton, Chairman of Saracens Mr Nigel Wray and Mr Gordon Banks Saracens Community Director, Deputy Lieutenant Martin Russell, the Rotary of Golders Green President Mr Martin Schramm and other Rotary Presidents and other member Rotarians and other organisations.
Dementia Club UK sessions aim to provide you with professional advice and information from various speakers, gentle exercise to music and fun activities in a social atmosphere served with tea, coffee and lovely cakes. A GP and a nurse are available to answer any medical concerns and other partner organisations who provide further advice for carers.
In an ageing population, there are unfortunately a lot of people suffering with dementia and as our population grows, this disease is continuing to grow. It is now the most feared illness. As the Ageing Well Champion of the Borough of Barnet, Cllr Rutter’s aim is to increase awareness of this terrible cruel disease and to help as many people as possible and provide them with hope and quality of life.
