Barnet residents are being invited to give their views on the council’s contract with Re Ltd, a joint venture between Barnet Council and Capita Business Services.

The Re contract delivers a wide range of services including highways, planning, regeneration, environmental health, trading standards and the Hendon Cemetery and Crematorium.

Residents can provide feedback on their experiences of any of these services or on any other aspect of the operation of the contract by submitting their views via engage.barnet.gov.uk.

Barnet Council entered a joint venture with Capita to run the council’s development and regulatory services in 2013. The contract is saving the council an average of £4 million for each year of the ten year contract.

A cross-party working group of councillors will oversee a year four review of the council’s contract with Re Ltd. The Re review will look at ways of improving service delivery and residents’ experience of using the services, as well as identify approaches to income generation and opportunities for savings in response to the changing needs of the council and the borough.

As part of the review there will be a meeting of councillors on Tuesday 25 April at Hendon Town Hall. Members of the public will be able to present their views to councillors, either by submitting a written response or addressing the meeting.

The deadline for submission of written statements and requests to address the meeting is 10am on Thursday 20 April.

Leader of Barnet Council, Councillor Richard Cornelius, said: “We know the importance our residents place on the services being delivered by Re.

“This review is an opportunity to pause and reflect on these services and decide which parts of the contract are performing well and giving us good value for money and where there is room for improvement. As taxpayers, it’s important residents have an opportunity to give us their views. The review will make sure the services being provided are fit for purpose, both now and in the future, as demand on our services changes.”
