Barnet Council is proud of its long-standing commitment to creating and celebrating apprenticeship placements across the borough.

Next week is National Apprenticeship Week 2017, co-ordinated by the National Apprenticeship Service nationwide. This annual event is designed to celebrate apprenticeships and traineeships and the positive impact they have on individuals, businesses and the wider economy.

This year, Barnet Council and its partners have pledged to provide 82 apprenticeship opportunities in a variety of areas including business administration, social care, parks, passenger transport, waste and recycling, plumbing, electricity fitting and dry lining.

More than 300 apprenticeship placements have been agreed across the borough through our regeneration sites as we work with local employers to train the next generation of Barnet’s workforce.

This is in addition to the 1500 apprenticeships started across the borough in 2015/16.

Activities will be taking place across the borough to mark the week, including a job fayre in Golders’ Green on 10 March held by Mike Freer MP and an Apprenticeships and Post-16 Options event at Middlesex University on Monday 20 March run by council partner Cambridge Education.

Councillor Richard Cornelius, Leader of Barnet Council, said:

“It is wonderful to see the apprenticeship opportunities created by Barnet Council and our partners being taken up across our borough. We are fully invested in providing these opportunities for those of all ages in a variety of fields, and welcome National Apprenticeship Week as a chance to recognise and promote the hard work of individuals and employers across Barnet, working together to contribute to and benefit the local community.”
