APOEL on Saturday achieved a major victory in the Nicosia derby with Omonia.

The GSP Stadium match ended 2-1 in APOEL’s favour further securing its place at the top of the league.

Omonia remains in fifth place.

Pieros Sotiriou scored for APOEL in the 44th minute followed by David Barral two minutes into extra time after the first half.

Omonia’s Matt Derbyshire scored in the 87th minute to end the match 2-1 to Apoel.

Earlier on Saturday, Doxa Katokopias won 4-0 at already relegated AEZ.
