Detectives from the Roads and Transport Policing Command are appealing for witnesses to a fatal collision in Barnet.

At 21:23hrs on Monday, 29 December, police were called to a car in collision with a pedestrian in Barnet Road near the junction with Hedgerow Lane, Barnet.

The pedestrian, a 60-year-old man, was taken by ambulance to hospital where he died shortly after arrival.

Formal identification has taken place and next of kin have been informed.

The car, a Fiesta, stopped at the scene. An 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He was taken to a north London police station and bailed to a north London police station in late March.

A post mortem examination will take place on 2 January 2015 at Finchley Mortuary.

Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit at Alperton are investigating.
