Omonia Youth celebrate 20 years
Omonia Youth Football Club is now in its 20th year of existence – an absolutely fantastic achievement and therefore a special BIG THANKS goes out to all of the children, parents, supporters and volunteers over the years for their participation and input!
This weekend the Club hosted their 20 Year Celebration Dinner & Dance at the Hilton London Wembley. It was a fantastic occasion where nearly 350 guests celebrated together into the early hours of Monday morning!
The venue was outstanding and complimented by some superb entertainment – video clips, speeches, raffles, auctions, Greek dancers and an appearance from Paul ‘Woody’ Woods, the very well-known professional Football Freestyler, who not only put on a great show but stayed for the entire evening interacting with all of the children!
L/R Kyri Georgiou (Vice Chairman), Paul ‘Woody’ Woods and Elias Constanti (Chairman).
The evening truly highlighted the support received from the community and businesses both local and in surrounding areas.
The Club is extremely proud to be celebrating their 20th season, an outstanding landmark, and one which emphasises the dedication, motivation and need for a grass roots football within our local communities. Omonia Youth FC have been providing a platform for children of all ages to come and play football, make lifelong friends and be part of something they will never forget, with over 350 children taking part in training and matches each week.
Under the Chairmanship of Elia Constanti the club continues to thrive as one of the biggest Youth Clubs in Middlesex. With the Club continuing to grow, our strong and energetic Management Committee, made up of Kyri Georgiou (Vice-Chairman), Nick Zimaras (Secretary) and Charlie Christofi (Treasurer), together with the wider committee group, help drive the Club forward together with the team Managers, Coaches and other volunteers.
There are currently 23 teams ranging from Under 8s through to Under 18s, which is further complimented by a Development Centre for U6s and U7s. Next season the growth will continue with more teams representing the Club.
The 2013/14 season has proved to be a very successful one so far with regards to honours. Whilst writing this, the U17 Greens have already secured the Harrow League Premier Division title and the U14 Greens won the Middlesex County Cup Final. The U12 Golds and U13 Whites won their respective leagues, with the U13 Whites also winning the Spring Cup. There are numerous teams currently sitting in first and second place and a few more cup finals to look forward to.
