A man has been arrested after his mother was found dead at a house in Greater Manchester, where it is believed she could have been for up to a year.
The 96-year-old’s remains were discovered at the property in South Hill Street, Oldham on Wednesday.
A post-mortem examination found she died from natural causes.
The man was held on suspicion of failure to notify a death and was later bailed pending further inquiries.
Police said officers attended the address at 13:55 BST following reports of a concern for welfare.
It is understood the body had been in the property for a number of months and the death could have been left unreported for up to a year.
The death is not being treated as suspicious
