The Foreign Ministry of the Republic has said that the recent report of the State Department with regard to terrorism and the references by which it commends the Republic of Cyprus, constitute a proof and recognition of Cyprus` upgraded role in the crucial Southeastern Mediterranean region, as a factor of security and stability.

In a press release issued on Friday, the Ministry said that during the last year, the authorities of the Republic of Cyprus cooperated closely and effectively with the authorities of various countries with a view to address international security challenges, focusing on combating terrorism, proliferation of massive destruction weapons, organized crime, human trafficking and illegal immigration.

The Ministry also stressed that “fully implementing its international obligations, Cyprus will continue to work methodically so as to address the international disproportionate threats of an established universal nature.
