Cyprus police upgrade presence on social media
Cyprus police are strengthening their presence on social networking sites and can now boast 10.619 likes on Facebook, 527 followers on Twitter and 5,300 users of a smart phone app in 31 different countries.
Police Spokesman Andreas Angelides, said on Saturday that they are constantly upgrading their services through social media with a view to better serve the public, keeping it informed on issues of interest.
When roads close due to bad weather conditions a post on Facebook or a tweet could prove essential in choosing a different route to reach your destination on time, was the example Angelides cited.
He also referred to the effort to maintain a constant flow of information that is of interest to the public through Facebook, Twitter and Youtube.
The police presence on social media is however interactive as the public is given the chance to provide feedback and information related to cases under investigation or concerning offenses.
