Boy, 18, stabbed to death on nature reserve is second London knife victim in 48 hours
A boy aged 18 stabbed to death in a west London nature reserve last night became the second victim of the capital’s teenage knife crime culture in 48 hours.
Police were called to Crane Park in Feltham at 3.30pm yesterday following reports of a teenager suffering stab wounds.
The 18-year-old male, who has not yet been named, was taken to a Central London hospital where he later died.
His body was found in an overground patch of grassland surrounded by trees and shrubs, concealed from the nearest footpath which lies 50 yards away.
Forensic officers worked late into the night at the scene, covering the spot where the body was discovered with a white tent illuminated by spotlights.
A group of the victim’s friends gathered in nearby Evans Grove, a quiet residential cul-de-sac, where they stood quietly chatting until midnight.
Mourners had left three bunches of flowers on a bench nearby.
Officers believe they know the identity of the deceased, but await formal identification. His family have been informed.
A post-mortem examination will be scheduled in due course. There have been no arrests.
DCI Noel McHugh, from the Met’s homicide and major crime unit, urged anyone who had been in the area at around 3pm yesterday to come forward.
He said: “They may well have seen something which could be of vital importance. I would also like to appeal directly to those that have knowledge of this murder to contact police.”
The victim is the fourth teenager to die violently in London this year.
The latest attack happened less than 48 hours after A-level student Alim Uddin, 17, died from knife wounds in Brixton at 5pm on Sunday.
The hard-working teenager, who hoped to become a policeman, had gone to an eight-floor flat where he was beaten and stabbed after going to collect a second-hand bicycle he had bought for £90. His heartbroken mother Parool told the Standard: “Our children are being killed and nothing is being done. They are dying like dogs.”
Anyone with information should call 020 8785 8099 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
A boy aged 16 was today due to appear before magistrates in Camberwell charged with Alim’s murder.
