ΑΗΙ delegation visits Cyprus House

A delegation of the American Hellenic Institute (AHI) visited Tuesday the Cyprus House and was briefed on the Cyprus problem and developments in Cyprus` Exclusive Economic Zone.

The delegation was briefed by Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Foreign and European Affairs, DHSY MP Prodromos Prodromou.

AHI delegation comprises Institute Chairman Nick Larigakis, Secretary Kosta Alexakis, Board member Leon Andris, Member of AHIF Gus Andy (American Hellenic Institute Foundation) and Georgea Polizos, AHI legal issues officer.

According to a press release issued by the Parliament, Prodromou stressed that the support Cyprus gets from the Cypriots abroad is extremely vital and thanked AHI for all its efforts.

Prodromou also said that Cyprus can become a link between EU and the countries in the region.

AHI Chairman Nick Larigakis briefed Prodromou on the Institute`s actions to raise awareness in the American leadership on various matters of the Hellenism around the world. He also expressed his hope the new geostrategic developments to help in the efforts to solve the Cyprus problem.

Cyprus has been divided since 1974 when Turkey invaded and occupied its northern third. UN backed negotiations are currently underway with the aim to reunite the island under a federal roof.
