Detectives from Enfield are appealing for witnesses and information following a vicious attack on a woman during a burglary.

On Friday, 4 April at around 21:30 hours, a 59 year old woman was alone in her home in Connaught Gardens, N13, when a lone suspect broke into her property.

Upon entering the premises the suspect began searching the address. When the victim came out onto the landing to see what was causing the noise, he grabbed hold of her arms and punched her in the face. He caused a cut to her lip and substantial bruising on both of her upper arms.

The victim managed to barricade herself in a bedroom and the suspect escaped via the front door. He made off with a large quantity of Asian jewellery in an unknown direction along Connaught Gardens.

The suspect is described as a white male, 5ft 9ins tall, medium build, black hair, clean shaven with an eastern European accent. He was wearing a black zipped jacket.
