Cyprus returns to the world stage of international beach volleyball this year, as it will host the Beach Volleyball World Championship for U21 (under 21 years old).
The Championship will take place July 23-27 in the coastal town of Larnaka.
While the Cyprus Volleyball Federation has hosted several Challenger and Satellite events of the FIVB (International Federation of Volleyball) this will be just the second event held in Larnaka as the city presented the 2012 FIVB U19 World Championships which were won by a men’s tandem from Poland and a women’s duo from Lithuania.
A total of 72 teams (36 teams of men and 36 of women) will participate in the Championship in Larnaka. Athletes come from all continents.
The Games will last for six days, while delegations will stay in Larnaka for up to two weeks.
