According to illegal BRT television (online, 14.04.14), Turkish Cypriot leader Dervis Eroglu met on Monday with a delegation from the “association of public vehicle operators”. Speaking during the meeting, the “head of the association” Mentes Aytac said that “the majority of their problems stemmed from not being able to cross over to South Cyprus (editor’s note: the government controlled area of the Republic of Cyprus) with their vehicles whereas Greek Cypriots encountered no problems crossing over to the North (editor’s note: the occupied area of the Republic of Cyprus)”.

Eroglu, for his part, noted that this problem has been ongoing for years and that he has spoken with the EU officials regarding this issue, claiming that at a time when confidence building measures are being discussed, this stance is very wrong.

Referring to the Cyprus issue, Eroglu said that he was searching for a solution that the majority of the population would approve of and added that he wanted to reach an agreement that would allow the Turkish Cypriot “people” to live on these lands in peace and security.
