The Republic of Cyprus is implementing all European Directives concerning the right of family reunification and the non-refoulement principle, the Ministry of Interior says in an announcement, noting that these provisions have been fully incorporated to the Cyprus Refugee Law.
The Ministry was commenting on a recent press release by the UNHCR, saying that the latest amendments to national law limit fundamental rights of displaced people seeking protection by the Republic.
According to the Ministry announcement, family reunification for persons that have been granted subsidiary protection is not part of the obligations of member sates, according to European law.
European Directive provisions regarding the right to family reunification for beneficiaries of international protection, limited to family links preceding the beneficiary`s entrance, have been incorporated fully, the Ministry adds.
