Cyprus Airways is on the right path
Cyprus Airways is on the right path, Chairman of the company Tony Antoniou said Wednesday, adding that the economic situation of the company is very good and the company can look with optimism into the future.
Antoniou was speaking at a press conference, during which the company presented the results of a survey, which was conducted between 17 February – 7 of March 2014. The survey shows that “the very negative image of Cyprus Airways, a year ago, among the people, the politicians and the media has changed and the company is supported by the vast majority of Cypriots”.
He added that this has helped the company “reverse the negative economic trend and enter into a growth path, which will bring the desired results. ”
“In a few days we conclude one year at the board of the company. Cyprus Airways` financial situation is very good and we look forward with great optimism to the future,” he said.
The survey, conducted by CMR Cypronetwork Marketing Research Ltd, shows that the main advantage of Cyprus Airways among the interviewees is flight safety (48%), followed by friendliness / behavior of staff (34%) and training / professionalism of staff (28%). Main disadvantages were ticket prices (48%), flight network/destinations (16%) and direct flights (12%).
The survey shows that 66% disagreed with the closure of Cyprus Airways, 5% said they agreed, while 13% answered neither agree nor disagree and 16% said they did not know, or did not answer.
In addition, 56% said that Cyprus Airways must survive at any cost.
“The most important message we got from the survey is that two out of three people said that the company must not close. People have confidence in the company and want it to remain our national carrier”, he stressed.
Antoniou said that Cyprus Airways survive today without taxpayers money, adding that the company is making savings and increases its income.
Asked about the possibility that the company is privatized, he said that the current fleet of six airplanes is not enough to meet the needs of the traveling public in Cyprus, adding that the company can further grow if there is private capital
