UN Under-Secretary-General Jeffrey Feltman had a constructive meeting with Kudret Ozersay, the Chief Negotiator and representative of Turkish Cypriot leader, in the context of the UN-led talks for a settlement of the Cyprus problem, a UN Spokesman said in a statement.
“UN Under-Secretary-General Jeffrey Feltman met yesterday with Kudret Ozersay, the Chief Negotiator and representative of Turkish Cypriot leader, in the context of the Cyprus negotiations. They had a constructive discussion about the negotiations and the way forward in light of the resumption of the talks agreed on 11 February,” he said.
Cyprus has been divided since 1974, when Turkish troops invaded and occupied its northern third. Cyprius’ President Nicos Anastasiades and Turkish Cypriot leader Dervis Eroglu reached last February an agreement, paving the way for the resumption of Cyprus talks, aiming to reunite the country under a federal roof.
