UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon will meet Wednesday with outgoing UN SG Special Adviser for Cyprus Alexander Downer, before departing later today for Moscow and Kiev.
The courtesy call, which is not included in the SG’s official schedule, has been confirmed by a UN official.
Downer is set to have farewell meetings with various permanent representatives at the UN, including those of Greece and Turkey.
UN SG Special Representative Lisa Buttenheim is also visiting UN headquarters, in New York.
Downer is expected to visit Cyprus in the coming days to say goodbye to the island’s two community leaders, Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades and Turkish Cypriot leader Dervis Eroglu.
