Baenet goalie Graham Stack saw red as Barnet’s slump continued with an undeserved 1-0 defeat at Kidderminster Harriers in the Skrill Conference Premier on Saturday.

Stack had returned to the starting line-up for the first time since he suffered a calf injury at Luton on New Year’s Day, but he only made it to the 80th minute before being dismissed for taking out Marvin Johnson as he raced clear – a foul which has seen the experienced keeper receive a three-match ban.

The Bees were already behind by this stage courtesy of Michael Gash’s goal on 60 minutes and they ended up suffering a third successive defeat, but unlike the previous two matches they can consider themselves unfortunate to have been beaten after dominating the game for long spells.

The visitors threatened for the first time within two minutes when Marciano Mengerink had a shot blocked, before the same player fired into the side netting after good work from Kieron Cadogan.

Cadogan chipped narrowly over on 22 minutes before having a 35-yard free-kick saved by home keeper Danny Lewis, while Gash headed just wide at the other end as Kidderminster threatened for the first time.

A remarkable spell of action then saw Jon Nurse have three efforts blocked on the line in quick succession, while Cadogan was also thwarted by a goalline clearance from Ashley Grimes in the early stages of the second half.

Stack made a fine save to palm Anthony Malbon’s curling shot to safety on 55 minutes, but he was unable to prevent the hosts from taking the lead five minutes later as Gash’s shot from just outside the box took a big deflection which sent the ball looping over the helpless keeper.

Barnet responded well to falling behind and Harry Crawford was just inches away from turning in a Mauro Vilhete cross, before Cadogan was denied by another fine block by the home defence.

But Stack’s sending off halted their momentum and Kidderminster were able to hold on for the win.
