Nicosia protests at UN level for all violations of its Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) by Turkish seismographic vessel Barbaros, Cyprus Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides has said.

In a statement on Saturday, Kasoulides notes that the Republic of Cyprus’ Permanent Representative in the UN sends a monthly letter to the UN Secretary General, which is then circulated as a General Assembly document.

The latest such letter was dated February 18, 2014 and concerned the Turkish vessel’s activities for the period between December 12, 2013 and January 14, 2014, he says.

He concludes that the letter also refers to the commitment as it has been announced on the part of Turkey to conduct seismographic surveys in an area within Cyprus’ EEZ, west of the Akamas peninsula between January 27 and May 13.
