Asha 0 Brotherhood 2

Brotherhood are KOPA League Second  Division Champions 2013/14 after only one defeat and one draw and have done ever so well after being relegated from the first division last season.

They have been solid all season with the management team of George Demetriou and Akis Kyriacou in their first season together and not only are they second division Champions they are still in all the cups and hoping to continue to be winning trophies.

On Sunday Brotherhood had it difficult against a much improved Asha who really gave the new champions a fright by being on top in the first half and creating several chances. Second half Brotherhood broke the ice in the 70th minute with the first goal from their captain Glen McSherry after a mix up in the Asha penalty area.

The second goal was an absolute cracker from Aaron Kennedy where he picked up the ball in the penalty area and dribbled passed two players and keeper to score. Asha still battled to stay in the game and created good chances with the Brotherhood keeper Dimitri Melaisis outstanding pulling off some great saves.

A great season for Brotherhood with their future looking rosy.

Tripimeni 3 Rizokarpasso 0

Tripimeni were late starters in a game against a poor Rizokarpasso side who included their manager Dino in their side playing his first game of the season. It was a goalless first half after the break it was midfielder Peter Antoniades who was the hero with two goals one a header the other a close range shot . Ahmet Rifat added the third with a tap in. This win still keeps Tripimeni on top with 40 points and Apoel behind in second place on 34 points with two games in hand.

Apoel 3 Aradippou 1

Apoel were the opposite to the League leaders Tripimeni by being early starters by being 3-0 up within 15 minutes with their goals coming from Andre McCollins 2 the second an absolute screamer into the top corner of the net the other goal was scored by Daniel, but then let their foot off the pedal and allowed Aradippou to get back into the game who could only score one goal which came in the 70th minute scored by Sam. Aradippou are striving to swave themselves from relegation and have one game left versus New Salamis.

Komi Kebir 1 Livadia 4

In the first 20 mins there was not much between the two  teams. In the  25th  minute  after  Livadia failed attempt at the Komi Kebir goal resulted in a  Goal Keeper  long kick which caught the Livadia  back 5 too square and the Komi striker Andy Stylianou  beat the off side trap and hit the ball  in the bottom corner of the net. It only took one minute for Livadia to equalise with Andreas Bryant when he did a one two in the middle went wide and hit a powerful shot from outside the box in to the top corner 1-1.

After the break both teams missed chances to score before Elias won the ball in the 70th minute and curled a shot into the back of the net from just outside the box and curled a shot into the corner. ten minutes later Matt Taylor scrambled the ball over the line from a free kick. The fourth goal was a classic when Dan beat 3 players then hit a powerful shot into the net to make it 4-1.

Olympia 2 Cetinkaya Cinar 1

Olympia came into this game with high spirits after their draw with Tripimeni last week. The first half did not produce many chances with both teams nervous to take the game to their opponents. Cinar produced some good football and they were awarded with a cracking goal from Salih Karakis from 25 yards. A rasping curling shot into the top right of the net (0-1).  Olympia came alive in the last 10 minutes, equalizing from a 25 yard freekick scored by Eni Bezati and then winning the game in the last minute, as they caught Cinar on the break when Eni Bezati again picked up the ball and ran several yards and  went on to place the ball past keeper Remzi. 2-1.

Cetinkaya Cinar must be kicking themselves, giving this game away and now hoping to pick up points from their last 2 games versus New Salamis and Tripimeni to avoid relegation.

Olympia who are trying to save themselves from relegation have to play Apoel, Livadia and Rizokarpasso for their remaining games.

New Salamis 3 Omonia 2

Much improved Omonia really had to pull all the stoppers out for this game to ease their relegation worries but they started off badly by giving a penalty away in the 24th minute which was saved by their goal keeper Kem from Steve Velandia but Chris Benjamin made amends when he scored in the 30th minute for the red’s.

After the break New Salamis increased their lead within a minute when Stephanos Georgiou scored with a diving header from a Charlie Georgiou cross. In the 65th minute George Costa replied for Omonia. In the 70th minute Shamir Mullings made it 3-1 with a header after a cross from Joe Benjamin. This seemed to wake up Omonia and they really pressured to try and get back on level terms and got a second in the 80th minute with a goal from Dean Florence.

Can Omonia stave off relegation they have one game left versus Rizokarpasso.
