First Division
New Salamis 1 Tripimeni 4
New Salamis just did not turn up for this game. Tripimeni must now be Championship favourites after this win. I think the red’s drawing with Aradippou last week took all the stuffing out of them.
Tripimeni scored within ten minutes with a super goal from Leon Fisher a long distance power shot. Then in the 30th minute in the space of ten minutes Tripimeni added another three goals all scored by their new striker Isa Hussein.
The second half New Salamis put pressure on Tripimeni to try and get back in the game and scored a consolation goal with Shaun Mullings but it wasn’t their day and it has severely dented their chances of retaining the championship.
It is a shame a big game like this was marred by trouble towards the end.
Cetinkaya Cinar 2 Rizokarpasso 0
A controlled first half display by Cetinkaya Cinar. Their reward came in the 16th minute when Josh Djelal was tripped in the Rizo box and up stepped Selcuk Ulug to coolly place the ball into the net for 1-0.
Rizo stepped it up in the Second half, but a dogged display by the Cinar defence kept Rizo at bay. A. Macdonald had a great chance to equalize but his effort went wide. With 15 minutes remaining Tarik Kucuk spotted the Rizo keeper off his line and amazingly lobbed him from all of 30 yards, one of the goals of the season.
Salih Karakis nearly made it 3 in the last minute, with a shot inches wide. Even without Cinar keeper Remzi, replacement Cem Cemal did not have a single shot to save. They even lost Mete Redif with a dislocated shoulder and Ade Kelani went off injured aswell. Even so, the Cetinkaya Cinar revival continues.
An encouraging win for Cetinkaya Cinar that eases their relegation worries.
Omonia 4 Livadia 2
Omonia have left their good form late in the season with a good win over Livadia to try and ease their relegation worries but all the teams down there are playing well so it is going to be an exciting relegation battle.
Omonia’s goals were scored by Alexandros hat trick and one goal from Albert. Livadia’s goals came from Adem Ali and Andreas Bryant Economides.
Komi Kebir 3 Olympia 6
The two bottom teams of the first division put up a great entertaining game. Olympia’s win still gives them an outside chance of staying up. What a great game this was Olympia were winning 2-1, 3-2 and 4-3 with Komi Kebir just not being able to get level.
Komi Kebir’s goals came from Anthony Pantelides, Spyro and Jake. Olympia’s goals came from Jon Nicholas 3, Alex Violaris and Sam Donoghue 2.
Second Division
All Saints 3 Maronites 2
All Saints started well considering they haven’t played for so many weeks. They put pressure on Maronites throughout the 1st half and from a corner, there was a flick at the near post & Panayiotis Charalambous scored with a sweet header at about 30′. All Saints continued the pressure & sloppy defending allowed Ceyhan Kemal to score at 35′. Maronites didn’t give up and they managed to get a goal back in the 43minute with Harry Elia. The second half a foul on Rhys Watson resulted in the referee pointing to the penalty spot! Rhys Watson finished with a great penalty in the bottom corner at 65′. Then unfortunately the game was held up with an unfortunate incident with a Maronites player falling awkwardly & having a suspected collar bone fracture. Eventually the game continued with Maronites full steam ahead, and they managed to get a goal in the 80’with Tom Boxer. All Saints went down to 10 men when the secretary Panayiotis Charalambous couldn’t continue with an injury. Maronites continued pushing forward well against 10 men & had most of the possession in the last 10′. Eventually time run out & it finished All Saints 3-2 Maronites.
Pantel 3 Asha 2
It was a great day for a football and it reflected on this game exciting all the way. Pantel went ahead on 2 minutes after the collision between two Asha players scoring an own goal and as a result their lost their goalkeeper to injury. Pantel then extended their lead on 37 minutes to make it 2-0 with a goal from Alex
Asha started the game in the second half looking lively and scored on the 55th minute through Leonard who found himself clear to make it 2-1. After a series of near misses Asha should have equaliser but eventually managed to do so on 70 minutes with Leonard.
Two minutes before the end of the game Pantel on their final attack they managed to score the winner with Yiannis Yianni to make it 3-2 for the home team.
Pendayia 1 KLN 1
Kopa legend former New Salamis (Cyprus and London) star Kenny Dyer came out of retirement for this game and put in a magnificent display as KLN and Pendayia went head to head. Against the run of play Pendayia went 1-0 after a slip at the back let in the Pendayia striker Jordan Shaw to score. KLN pressed hard for an equaliser with both brothers Christopher and Luke Papacosta coming close. Kenny also came closer with a spectacular effort from 30 yards just going over the crossbar but Pendayia held out and went in 1-0 up at half time. Second half KLN came out flying and after 2 minutes of the second half they equalised through Luke Papacosta on his first game in 2 months. Despite several chances the game finished 1-1 in what was a highly entertaining game.
