First Division

Cetinkaya Cinar 0 Tripimeni 4

The First divison championship race is still hotting up with Tripimeni pulling off a neat 4-0 win over relegation battlers Cetinkaya Cinar who really must win their last game with New Salamis to have a chance of staying up.

Tripimeni’s goals came from Ahmet Rifat 2, Leon Fisher and Ramir Rifat to keep Tripimeni at the top and favourites for the championship.

Apoel 11 Komi Kebir 1

Apoel the other contenders for the title vastly improved their goal average with this huge win over poor already relegated Komi Kebir. Apoel’s goals coming from Andre McCollins 5 , David Knight, Tam 2, Taylan and Matt Gulfer. Komi’s lone goal came from Mirauld.

Omonia 2 Rizokarpasso 2

Omonia did not do themselves any favours by just drawing with Rizokarpasso 2-2 it may not be enough for them to save them from relegation they are now on 20 points only two points ahead of Olympia who still have two games to play, Cetinkaya Cinar on 19 and Aradippou on 21 points after their win over New Salamis.

Rizokarpasso led 1-0 with a goal from Spencer, Omonia then then fought back to be winning 2-1 with both goals from Dino then in the last ten minutes Rizokarpasso equalised with an own goal.

Aradippou 3 New Salamis 2

Aradippou may have secured their place in the first division with this win, they now have to wait to see what Cetinkaya Cinar and Olympia do in their final games.

What a fine performance by Aradippou its their second win over last year’s Champions New Salamis they have really improved as the season went on. Aradippou were two nil up after ten minutes with goals from Rakim and Sam, Rakim also scored a second in the 72nd minute to give Aradippou a 3-1 lead at the time. New Salamis’s goals were scored by Stephanos Georgiou 21 minute and Shamir Mullings 83rd minute.

Olympia 3 Livadia 0

Olympia are on a late run into the relegation battle a few weeks they seem doomed to relegation but a late revival from them beating Livadia, Cetinkaya Cinar and drawing with the League leaders Tripimeni and the their fellow  relegation battlers having bad results has given them hope and with two games now left versus Rizokarpasso and Apoel has put them in good stead for their continued battle.

A tremendous achievement for the 24 year old manager of Olympia Chris Zacharia in his first year in the KOPA League as a manager.

Olympia’s goals were scored by Erin Bezati a 25 yard free kick a cheeky lobbed goal from George Ioannou who also scored the final goal in the 80th minute.

Second Division

Brotherhood 2 Anorthosis 5

Anorthosis are back in the first division   they have had an exceptional season under their manager Marios Koureas and I expect them to do well in the first division. They led 3-0 at one time against the second division champions Brotherhood with two goals from Alex Roussis his first an absolute screamer that went in off the post. The third was scored by Fotis. Brotherhood got it back to 3-2 with goals from Aaron Kennedy after a defensive mix up in the Anorthosis goal mouth their second an header from Peter Theori. Anorthosis two late goals were scored by Vas Krisikos.

Arachne 5 Maronites 0

Arachne ensured their first ever promotion to the first division with this win they have had a great season they started by winning the Seven a side tournament and continued that great form into the season. They have a very talented young bunch of players who can only improve . They have been consistent this season their goals on Sunday were scored by Ant Panayi a brilliant volley from 20 yards from a great cross ball from Leo Charalambous. The other goals were scored bty Damien Spyrou, John Holmes and Adam Alt.

Pendayia 1 Achna 9

It was really hotting up in the second division for the third spot for promotion Achna were hoping Arachne would lose which they didn’t but who also had a 10 goal better goal difference but Achna went full steam to try and they did brilliant by scoring nine goals. Achna’s goals came from Shane Wylie 4, Theokli Charalambous, Andrew Kyriacou, Emerson Brooke Mead, Paul Abbot and Akin Goksell. Achna have had a great season I can see the getting better and better.
