Minister of Foreign Affairs Ioannis Kasoulides, will participate in the deliberations οf the Foreign Affairs Council and the General Affairs Council of the European Union, to be held in Brussels on the 17th and 18th of March respectively.

According to an official press release, issues on the agenda of the Foreign Affairs Council include, inter alia, the Eastern Partnership, with particular emphasis on the latest developments in Ukraine, the situation in Bosnia-Herzegovina, the Middle East peace process, the situation in Syria, and the preparations for the upcoming EU-Africa Summit.

During a working lunch, the EU Ministers of Foreign Affairs will also exchange views with the European Energy Commissioner, Mr Günther Oettinger, on the Unions’ policies on Energy.

In the context of the General Affairs Council, the EU Ministers will prepare the March European Council, which will focus on growth, competitiveness and employment issues.

The General Affairs Council will also look at the Presidency’s Synthesis Report, with particular emphasis on the implementation of the European Semester.   The Minister of Foreign Affairs will return to Cyprus on Wednesday, 19 March.
