A new meeting between the negotiators of the two sides in Cyprus, Greek Cypriot Andreas Mavroyiannis and Turkish Cypriot Kudret Ozersay, will take place on Tuesday morning, in the framework of negotiations aiming to solve the problem of Cyprus, divided since the Turkish invasion of the island in 1974.

On the part of the UN, senior adviser Wlodek Cibor will attend the meeting, scheduled for 11.00 am.

During their meeting last Tuesday at the UN Protected Area in Nicosia, the two negotiators agreed in principle that a meeting of the two leaders, Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades and Turkish Cypriot leader Dervis Eroglou, will take place towards the end of March.

The UN had also said that Mavroyiannis and Ozersay held substantive discussions on issues connected to different chapters. “The negotiators agreed to continue these discussions at their next meeting tomorrow.

Talks resumed after the leaders of the island’s two communities, namely President Nicos Anastasiades and Turkish Cypriot leader Dervis Eroglu, agreed on a seven-point Joint Declaration outlining their vision of a reunified Cyprus.
