Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades and Turkish Cypriot leader Dervis Eroglu will meet on March 31.

A written statement by the Spokesperson of the UN Good Offices Mission in Cyprus Michel Bonnardeaux said that the negotiators of the Greek Cypriot and the Turkish Cypriot side, Andreas Mavroyiannis and Kudret Özersay, who met on Tuesday in the United Nations Protected Area of Nicosia, at the Good Offices Mission, confirmed that the leaders’ meeting will take place on 31 March.

According to Bonnardeaux, the two negotiators held substantive discussions on issues connected to different chapters and these discussions will continue on Friday, 14 March.

Cyprus talks resumed, under UN auspices, in February, following an agreement on a joint declaration by the leaders of the island’s two communities, Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades and Turkish Cypriot leader Dervis Eroglu. The objective is to reunite Cyprus, divided since the 1974 Turkish invasion, under a federal roof.
