Cyprus House President Yiannakis Omirou, who is paying a working visit to London, is having a series of meetings on Monday with government officials.

Omirou meets in the morning the shadow Minister for Europe Gareth Thomas and the Speaker of the House of Commons John Bercow. In the afternoon, he will hold a meeting with All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Cyprus.

On Sunday, Omirou was received by the Archbishop Gregorios of Thyateira and Great Britain, whom he briefed on the latest developments in the economy and the Cyprus problem.

House President stated that during his briefing, he expressed hope that Turkey will ultimately alter its intransigence behavior of the past 40 years, and that its friendly countries will at last turn and exert pressure on Ankara in order to change its stance on the Cyprus issue.

Earlier, Omirou held meetings with representatives of the UK Famagusta Association and the Lobby for Cyprus, whom he briefed on recent developments in the Cyprus issue.
