Famagusta District Court is Wednesday expected to convene to hear mitigating arguments for a local developer found guilty of fraud after it emerged he had sold the same property to two different buyers.
The court found Kypros Kyprianou and his company Famagusta Developers guilty after eight months of proceedings.
Kyprianou was found to have sold the same maisonette – in the Famagusta Gardens 32 complex in Paralimni – to two unconnected buyers between 2006 and 2010, pocketing €85,000 in the process.
Kyprianou will remain in custody until today’s mitigation process which court reporters said may also result in his actual sentencing. According to the reports, a number of similar cases as well as forgery and theft-related charges against Kyprianou and the company are also underway at the district courts of Larnaca, Nicosia and Limassol.
