Homicide detectives are appealing for information after a man was found dead at an address in N1.
Officers attended a property in Baxter Road at approximately 20.40hrs on Monday, 24 March, after relatives contacted police to express concern for the welfare of the occupant.
It is too early to say how long the body had been in situ although the last know contact with the deceased was on Sunday evening, 23 March.
At present it is not known if anything is missing from the address, however, officers can find no evidence that entry had been forced to the property.
An incident room has opened under Detective Chief Inspector Andy Partridge, of the Homicide and Major Crime Command.
When police forced entry to the property, a man, believed to be aged in his mid-50s, was found dead inside the address.
Alt.hough formal identification has not taken place, we are satisfied the deceased was Turkish Cypriot Mehmet Hassan, 56 (20.11.57) of Baxter Road, N1.
He was a father of three and living on his own.
Detectives believe the victim had been assaulted inside the addressHe said: “I would like to appeal to anyone who has seen any activity in and around this address to make contact with my officers. In particular I would like help from the public who can assist with the movements of the victim between 19.30hrs on Sunday (23 March) and shortly before police found the victim on Monday.”
