McDonalds fast food restaurants have launched a delivery service that will be implemented in 14 of its branches around the island by the end of 2014, it emerged yesterday.
Cyprus is the first country in Europe to offer McDonalds delivery services which are currently available only in Asia and the Middle East.
According to the company’s marketing manager Elena Menelaou, McDonalds on Makarios Avenue in Limassol started the service on January 19, while it will expand to most restaurants in Limassol by April, followed by Larnaca and Nicosia in the summer.
“Our aim is to offer delivery services at 14 of our 18 restaurants by the end of the year, covering the entire island,” Menelaou said.
Delivery services will operate from 11am to 1am the next day to start with and the hours will then extend over time to also to cover earlier services during breakfast hours.
The first McDonald’s restaurant in Cyprus opened on the Phinikoudes beachfront in Larnaca in June 1997, followed by a drive-through restaurant in Engomi, Nicosia. There are currently 18 branches around the island, employing more than 800 people.
