LIMASSOL district court remanded a 42-year-old woman and a 33-year-old man for eight days Tuesday in connection with a case of fraud which saw them allegedly con around €270,000 from a 45-year-old woman.
According to the police report, in November 2010, the 42-year-old had convinced the 45-year-old to invest in a plot of land which she could later sell off, making a large profit. The land would be purchased from the 33-year-old who had claimed he was an investor, and who presented the woman with all the relevant official paperwork required to purchase land. She eventually handed over around €270,000 to the pair.
In August of the next year, the 45-year-old suspected the pair were not who they said they were and asked that her money be returned. The 42-year-old then returned only €73,000 of the total amount.
Limassol CID is investigating the case.
