The emblem of the Republic of Cyprus on the facade of the Presidential Palace was unveiled Tuesday by President of the Republic Nicos Anastasiades.

The unveiling ceremony took place in the morning, in the presence of Greek Defense Minister Demetris Avramopoulos, Archbishop of the Church of Cyprus Chrysostomos II, members of the Cabinet, leaders and representatives of political parties, chiefs of the National Guard and the Police and members of the diplomatic corps.

In his speech, the Cypriot President said that the installation of the emblem of the Republic of Cyprus at the Presidential Palace, “the temple of democracy”, was not only his own wish, but also a request of many citizens.

“It was also our obligation towards the continuity of our History and towards our State, the founding of which we honor today”, President Anastasiades pointed out, referring to the anniversary of Cyprus’ Independence Day.
