Murder investigation launched after woman found dead in Barnet
Detectives have launched a murder investigation following the death of a woman in Barnet.
Police were called by London Ambulance Service to an address in Aitken Road shortly after 01.40hrs this morning, 5 October.
On arrival officers forced entry to the property and found the lifeless body of a woman, believed aged 69, inside. She was pronounced dead at 02.10hrs.
Next of kin are aware and a post-mortem examination will be scheduled in due course.
A man, aged 42, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder and has been taken into custody at a north London police station.
Enquiries continue, led by detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command.
At this early stage, officers are not seeking any further suspects in connection with the incident.
