Man stabbed in front of son in East Barnet park
POLICE are hunting a man who stabbed a father in front of his young son as they walked through an East Barnet park with his young son on Monday evening.
The 42-year-old and the boy were walking in Oak Hill Park in Parkside Gardens at around 6.30pm when he was approached by a man in his later teens who asked for directions.
But as the victim tried to help the youth produced a knife, stabbing him in his shoulder blade and arm.
The teenager then fled the scene, running towards St Mary’s School in Littlegrove.
The father, whose wife was also in the park but did not witness the assault, was taken to hospital where he was treated for his wounds, which are not thought to be life threatening.
The attacker is described as black, 5ft 11ins, stocky, aged between 17 and 19 with short black hair. He spoke with a London accent and was carrying a heavy white rucksack.
