Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades has described his contacts in Kuwait as absolutely successful, noting that Kuwait has the intention to contribute to Cyprus efforts for the recovery of its economy.

In statements to the press, after an official lunch hosted in his honour by the Crown Prince of the State of Kuwait Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Anastasiades said that his meetings during the first day of his official visit to Kuwait, with the Prime Minister and the Prince were absolutely successful.
According to an official press release, Anastasiades noted that “we were given the opportunity to outline the potential which Cyprus offers and to redefine the friendly relations between the two countries. At the same time the Ministers who accompany me had the opportunity to sign certain agreements.”

He said Kuwait “appears ready to contribute to out efforts for economic recovery.”

He expressed hope that the meetings which he will have during his visit with important Investment Funds will bear fruit “in the ongoing efforts to create conditions that will encourage investment.”

Invited to say in which fields there could be cooperation between the two countries, President Anastasiades said that “we will look into business activities but what I see in the dialogue we had with officials today is that they are particularly friendly towards the state and the people of Cyprus.”
“At the same time they look forward to closer cooperation and on our part there is of course support towards the tightening of relations with the EU, as a reciprocal act to the enhancement of our friendly relations,” Anastasiades concluded
