FA Sunday Carlsberg Cup

First Round

Flamstead End 1 New Salamis 7

New Salamis came up against a Cheshunt team who are second in the Waltham Football League premier division. This game started with a bang with both clubs scoring within ten minutes, New Salamis taking the lead in the 5th minute with Richard Georgiou and their opponents equalised in the 9th minute. The red’s second goal came just before the half time break when Dougie Morton scored with a tap in from an Andreas Loizou cross. The third goal came from Deniz who was buzzing in this game. The fourth was a great individual goal from Dean Fenton who ran with the ball from the half way line passing four Flamstead defenders before placing the ball in the far corner of the net. Richard then added a second goal to his tally and man of the match Deniz another two to give him a hat trick and his team a 7-1 win. New Salamis will now go on to play Harrow League Premier team Broadfields Laurels who beat Club Lewsley 3-1.

Attero 3 Apoel 2

Attero the top team in the Basildon and District team gave our team Apoel a really tough game in the FA cup but Apoel started well when they led from the 18th minute with a goal from Andy McCollins. Attero equalised then Apoel were down to ten men when they had a player sent off. Attero added another two goals in the second half to make it 3-1 and Apoel tried to come back attacking like mad and managed to score to make it 3-2 with Andy McCollins again two minutes before the end.

First Division

Cetinkaya Cinar 2 Aradippou 3

One of the most exciting games I seen this season loads of end to end action with Cetinkaya taking the lead with Hassan Ali from a free kick the Aradippou goal was a well taken equaliser from the edge of the box with a well executed goal from Alexandros. Cetinkaya came back to take the lead again with a headed goal from a corner with Ercan. Then just before the break the Cinar keeper Remzi dropped the ball in the path of Aradippou striker Shane to tap it into an empty net.

The second half just as exciting as the first only had one goal to show from Alexandros who shot from the edge of the box into an empty net. This win lifts 3-2v winners Aradippou to sixth place in the table.

Second Division

Anorthosis 2 Arachne 0

This game had a nervous edge to it with both clubs fighting for promotion, a strong midfield battle between both teams who have both improved tremendously this season.

It was so close that we had to wait till the last ten minutes to see any goals and who else to crop up and score but Anorthosis super striker Danny Coolridge both from shots inside the penalty area.

The result leaves Anorthosis second place on fouteen points one point behind the second division leaders Brotherhood and Arachne third place on thirteen points.

Pendayia 5 Maronites 2

Pendayia are slowly creeping up the table they are banging in goals galore at the moment they have risen up to fifth place after this  5-2 win over the Maronites it was 1-1 at one stage so I don’t know what happened to the Maronites after that. Pendayia’s goals came from Mark Richards four and Antonids Kallis 1. Maronite’s goals came from Harry Elia and Tyler Barclay.
