KOPA Football League Round Up
Wet, wet, wet but still exciting
First Division
Rizokarpasso 2 Olympia 1
Rizokarpasso who were on TV in Cyprus this week for their game versus Aradippou earlier on in the season are still unbeaten in their current campaign and as a result of today’s game have risen to second place above third placed last season’s champions New Salamis and current League leaders Tripimeni.
Rizokarpasso were leading 2-0 within ten minutes with both goals coming from Ricardo then Rizo let their foot off the pedal although they were still playing well they allowed Olympia towards the end of the game to up their tempo and who scored from the penalty spot with Liam Gordon and missed an open goal chance right at the end to equalise and it still leaves Olympia looking for their first win.
Omonia 4 Komi Kebir 1
Omonia are improving with every game they have only lost one game in the last 13 games but are also playing very attractive football. Again Komi Kebir played a good game but left it too late. I don’t know what was said at half time but they were a better team in the second half.
Omonia were leading 3-0 at half time with two goals from Zane his second was well executed and well placed in the far right hand corner of the goal. New addition to Omonia Alexandros Constantinou had a hand in Zanes first goal and scored the third when he dribbled past three players and shot past the oncoming Komi keeper.
Komi Kebir came back in the 65th minute with a goal from Andreas Bryant Economides and they created a few chances with no avail. Chris Philippou added a fourth to make it 4-1 in the 80th minute and that’s how the score remained lifting Omonia to fourth place.
Second Division
Brotherhood 4 Maronites 2
Brotherhood makes it to the top of the second division two points ahead of second placed Arachne. They had a tough game against the Maronites who played very well and made it difficult for the new second division leaders. Brotherhood have a very attractive look with Aaron Kennedy the current League top goal scorer, attacking midfielder Paul Yiannakas and the addition of Mark Doyle has given them added bite.
Brotherhood were two nil up at half time the first when Mark Doyle swifted past the Maronites keeper to score the first goal. Paul Yiannakas then put a through ball to Aaron Kennedy who stroked it into the back of the net to make it two nil.
After the break Maronites star striker Lewis Barclay made it 2-1. Aaron scored his second and Brotherhood’s third with a well taken header and again he scored a hat trick with a header at the far post from a free kick. Then late in the game Maronites made it 4-2 with a well worked goal on the counter attack ending with Seltch ending the game 4-2 in Brotherhood’s favour.
Cyprus Youth (KLN) 3 Pantel 5
What an exciting game this was Pantel took KLN by surprise and led 3-0 within five minutes from the 25th to 30th minutes. KLN got it back to 3-1 in the 40th minute and in the 65th minute they made it 3-2.
Pantel increased their lead to 4-2 but KLN kept coming back making it 4-3 but in the 85th minute Pantel scored to make it 5-3 final score and lifting them up five places to fifth place in the table whilst KLN drop to third from bottom.
Pantel’s scorers were Daniel Moysis 2 Jayson 2 and Alex Constantinou for KLN Luis 2 and Chris Papacosta.
