Cyprus will not be taking part in the Eurovision Song Contest

Cyprus will not participate in the 2014 Eurovision song contest, it has been announced.
CyBC said that the decision came after the board considered the public’s concerns following the financial crisis.
It also took into account further cuts to its 2014 budget and the need to make drastic expense reductions to its programmes.

One response to “Cyprus will not be taking part in the Eurovision Song Contest”

  1. Yes but why are they not considering the positive benefits should they win ? The extra tourism ? The publicity ? The profile raising of the Island ? Tut Tut very short term thinking indeed… Even if they didnt win it would still be a chance to show off Cyprus all across Europe and that can boost tourism too !
